In addition to running my farm, I have a job in my professional field, and before my 'free' time became consumed with 'all horses, all the time,' I had many interests that I pursued outside of my professional field. Time permitting, I continue to enjoy these interests. On this page, I will share with visitors some of them.

My husband, Pat, is working on a novel and is a published poet. I'll be posting some of his work here.

Blue Fire Moon Consulting Partnership
My husband, attorney Pat Nester, and I consult in the areas of association management, association
research, survey research, strategic planning, continuing legal education, the economics of the legal
profession, and related fields. More information on our business will be published here in the future.
Poetry and Literature
My mother was a gifted southern cook, and instilled in me a love of good food and the knowledge of how to
prepare it. Though I never made it to formal cooking school, I have taken numerous classes with top chefs
and taught a few of my own. I'll be publishing some of my favorite recipes here, many original, and sharing
info on the Central Texas food scene.

My daughter, Leah, is a talented jewelry maker, and I am a life-long knitter. Though I don't have time for
knitting these days, I continue to appreciate the art (and to buy yarn). Here I'll publish photos of our and
others' work and provide links to favorite sources for materials.
Jewelry-Making & Textile Arts
I studied piano and voice from elementary through high school, and I had the good fortune of being in
college in Lubbock, Texas at the time the West Texas music scene was emerging. Some of these gifted
Lubbock musicians (Joe Ely, Jimmy Dale Gilmore, Butch Hancock and many others) have remained
life-long friends, and I follow avidly the careers of the new breed of Texas musicians--Stony LaRue, Eli
Young, Corry Morrow to name a few. I'll be posting info on concerts, new songs, and also playlists of good
songs to ride horses to.
Music
My husband's family has completed a genealogy, and I'm hoping someday, I'll do my side of the family. If I
ever do, I'll publish it here.
Family & Genealogy
I am an art lover, and we are lucky here in Central Texas to have a very vibrant arts community. I have a
small collection of folk art with horses as subjects as well some modern pieces. Photos coming soon.

Driftwood has a very interesting history--e.g., our farm is located on the original Spanish land grant of
William B Travis, one of the founders of Texas. The area is changing rapidly, not all in a bad way. I'll be

Running a horse farm does not permit me to travel much any more, but I was passionate about travel in the
past, especially in Latin America. Someday, I'd like to do some writing about my more memorable trips,
and if I do, I'll publish here.
